The Price Test utility allows you to test price calculations for your items, such as Contract, Promotional, or Special price rules that will go into effect now or in the future.
Using the Price Test utility, you can test the price rule filters for the who, what, when, where and how questions answered by the price rule and ensure that your price rule is calculating prices as you intended.
What Should You Test Using the Price Test Utility?
When using the Price Test utility to test price rules, you should test:
- Customers that should be eligible for the price rule
- Customers that should not be eligible for the price rule
- Items that should be included in the price rule
- Items that should not be included in the price rule
- Quantities of items that should be included in the price rule
- Quantities of items that should not be included in the price rule
- Dates that the price rule should be in effect
- Dates that the price rule should not be in effect
- Stores that should use the price rule
- Stores that should not use the price rule
- How Counterpoint calculated the price
Using the Price Test Utility
To use the Price Test utility:
- Select Inventory → Utilities → Price Test
- Enter the Inputs for the test:
- a. (Optional) Enter or look up a Customer if your price rule has a customer filter
- b. Enter or lookup an Item number
- c. Enter a Quantity and unit
- d. Enter or lookup a Store
- e. Enter an As of date for the test
- Click Get Price
- Review the results in the Pricing outputs area of the window Field/Column Name Meaning
- Change one Input to test another sales scenario
- Repeat changes to test all sales scenarios
